Goodbye to Tom...and his hair

What a crazy week it has been! It began with a surprise birthday party for Ione on Monday evening, the same day on which I found out that I had an interview on Wednesday for a secondment one day a week, working for a university with their trainee teachers. I had the interview on Wednesday and found out that same day that I had got the job! I am sooo excited about that but braely had time to take it in because of the mad rush it has been to get Tom packed and ready for Borneo. 

Yes, having known about it for over a year, and Tom having worked hard for it all that time, suddenly it crept up on us out of nowhere. On Thursday I found myself darting here there and everywhere, shopping for shorts and insect repellent and the like, whilst aiming to be at Tom's school awards ceremony for 6.30, to see him pick up the subject award for Politics. It was the very last time Tom would ever don his mighty green blazer and I have to say I shed a tear or two. 

So Friday was the departure day and thankfully Peter was around to supervise the packing and sort out the Borneo hair cut. A thatch like Tom's would never have done in the heat, so this is the new look Tom, who is now somewhere just north of Australia. My house is very quiet....
