It has been a bit of a whirlwind...I finished school on Tuesday afternoon and by 11.00am on Wednesday morning, Anni and I had begun our road trip around Scotland. After a five hour drive up to Lennoxtown, where we are staying with our friend Andrea, we were up to nothing more than a walk and a dvd yesterday evening. Today our planned programme of activities began (Andrea described my colour coded calendar and accommodation spreadsheet as "frightening") Our first port of call was Largs, from where we took the short ferry crossing to the isle of Cumbrae to hire bike and cycle ten and three quarter miles around the island. The weather was just perfect, warm, but not hot. Here are Anni and Andrea raring to go.
And we did it in just two hours at a leisurely pace, with one refreshment stop and plenty of photo stops. I am not even sore (maybe that will come tomorrow). I last did this about 13 years ago. The bikes are infinitely better since then. The first time I did it, in about 1985, we were on rusty old boneshakers which left us saddle sore for days.
We even got certificates to prove it!
And we celebrated our achievement with ice cream sundaes in Nardinis ice cream parlour in Largs. (May need to do it again to cycle off those calories....)

Ooh Lol. How Fab! We stayed at Largs when Beth was a baby, and did the cycle round Cumbrae, and had ice cream with marshmallow sauce in Nardinis, but so long ago now. Hope you`re having a brilliant time, and look forward to the next part in your scottish adventure x
