The accidental folk dance festival

Our plan for today was to visit Falkland Palace. (Anni did the research for this trip and picked the places she wanted to visit.) We arrived in an incredibly pretty town but I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the sign hanging over Falkland Palace...it read International Folk Dance Festival. Now anyone who knows Peter will know that his pet hatred is of morris dancers. Today of all days!
He loved the palace and the gardens and the pretty little town and to my amazement, he didn't mind sitting in the uncharacteristically blazing sunshine to watch a bit of Scottish dancing.
Quite a lot of it really.........
We thought we had landed in Brig'o'doon...... Then came the Austrian dancers, complete with dirndls,Lederhosen and twirling flags!!!
After that we had time to catch a cuppa in a tea shop named Blether by the Bridge, by the Forth Road Bridge, before driving Peter back to Edinburgh airport. We won;t see him now for over a week :( We have had such a fab time with him this weekend. We came back to St Andrews and had the most amazing fish supper with Peter, Anne and Andrea, before taking a sunset stroll along the harbour wall.
Tomorrow Andrea is joining us on our visit to Perth and then on Tuesday we begin our week of b&b stays.
