A wedding

On Saturday we went to a wedding. My colleague Sean (with whom I went on the German trip) married his girlfriend Lucy and inherited a lovely stepson, Ian, who sang beautifully for them both during the wedding service. I've worked with Sean for 15½ years and Jane (below) for 13 years. I never meant to stay in the same job that long and every year I promise myself this will be the last, but I'm still there. Sean and I both have our very own "OCD chairs" in the staff room; he will kneel on the floor rather than sit somewhere else if his is taken. I will at least sit somewhere else, but just feel uncomfortable. Anyway, we had a very nice day and the whole thing was rounded off with an Indian buffet, which was absolutely delicious. I decided to wear the dress I had for a couple of family weddings in 2004 and 2005 and was able to do so thanks to Julie, who repaired the strap for me. (I struggle even to sew a button on without it looking like a dog's dinner.)

Talking of struggling, Peter struggles to wear a suit, in that he hates doing so and so he didn't on this occasion. But he did have a very nice new shirt.

And that was how we spent our first day of a child free week. Both Tom and Anni are off on different Christian youth camps this week. The silence is ringing in my ears!
