Ich bin wieder nach Hause!

For the last 10 days I have been in Germany and have had an absolutely wonderful time there. My school has had an exchange with the school there for 28 years now and I first went on the exchange in 1997. It was then that I met Sue (centre), who was born in the same year as me and went to the sixth form at the school where I teach. She has lived in Germany for over 20 years and now teaches in our partner school. The last time I had seen her, her daughter, Eva, had just been born. She is now 12 and is pictured below with her little sister Liza-Marie who is 10.

I just love these girls and I really miss them now I'm back in England.

We got to visit a lot of interesting places while we were there, so this will take a few posts. Our first trip out was to the Rheinfels castle, St.Goar and Bacharach. We explored the castle, then had a long, leisurely lunch just to the right hand corner of this photograph. On this trip we take with us the hideous "cat bag". If anyone misbehaves or turns up late, they have to carry the cat bag as a punishment. The children were so good that none of them had to carry it. It was in this pretty little town that Sean, my colleague of 15 years, spotted and bought the "all new cat bag mark 2".
