Our book club, which Ione started up in 2005, always takes a break in August and so the reading year ends for us in July with a meal. In keeping with the title of our book this month, Blue Sky July, we had our book club meal al fresco, under a blue July sky at Lorraine B's by the pool (thanks for having us Lorraine). What a lovely occasion it was! We fared sumptuously before we began to fill the English July chill and retired to the warmth of the house. The book certainly gave us a lot to talk about, but then we talk a lot anyway.
In February next year, we will be marking the 5th anniversary of book club. I'm deeply thankful to Ione for encouraging me to read more. I think I had become rather lazy about reading, thinking I didn't have time for too much of it. Because of Ione and her book club I have read a broader range of books, some of which I probably would never have chosen for myself, but have really enjoyed.
