We've been up to the frozen north (Northumberland) for almost a week. It was somewhere I'd never been and had always wanted to go. We stayed in a lovely Georgian town house, which had just been renovated and we were the first guests. The town itself wasn't that good but there were some lovely places around. Our first visit was to Alnwick Castle, one of the filming locations for Hogwarts. We got to visit on the last day before it closed for winter and it was beautiful. Right next door were the gardens, which made for another day out. They were lovely too, particularly the enormous tree house..
It was absolutely freezing (not helped by the fact that I'd left my winter coat at work) so we were glad to have lunch in the lovely tree house and toast by the fire for a while.
Inside it was incredible, a really nice place to sit and eat and the food was really special. Loved this place.
