Peter had an appointment this morning, with yet another specialist, this time in Warrington. To be honest I don't think either of us were holding out much hope and have been feeling a bit battle weary with it all. I didn't go with him this time. So when he rang to tell me how he'd got on I couldn't believe my ears!!!
The specialist said that first of all they would need to do another mri scan, to which Peter thought "here we go again, another six month wait", but then he interjected, within two weeks! Then he hopes to operate about a month after the scan, so January....
He was so much more positive about the whole thing, talking about people who've had this procedure and have been able to go back to playing sports. It would be such a joy for Peter to be able to play football again that I'd even be there on the sidelines cheering him on. Furthermore I have to say that I'm far happier about the prospect of him having the op in Warrington rather than our local hospital.
This is so timely because the morphine isn't even helping that much any more. The annoying thing is that he has discovered that his ridiculously long wait has largely been down to hospital politics.
Then to cap it all he has just had a phone call offering him an mri scan appointment on Sunday morning, due to a cancellation. So we go from a snail ride to an express train....
