Ione's many references to young Mr Oliver's latest cookery book, I decided to give it a try. So after YP on Friday evening, I took advantage of the local 24 hour Tesco to go and purchase it. Now I am a confirmed disciple of Gary myself (Rhodes that is, I must point out, since eyebrows were raised when I commented to Ione that I thought Gary was much tastier!) But I was pleased with the Jamie dinner I cooked up on Saturday evening. For dessert I made the above chocolate fudge cake. My verdict was that it was very easy and very tasty. For the main course I tried his pan fried pork chops, glazed in apple sauce, accompanied by his cauliflower cheese, which I really loved because it is cooked in crème frâiche and sprinkled with breadcrumbs and rosemary and is not at all sloppy.

I also made his baked French potatoes. Yum!

We served all of this up to Peter's beloved Aunt Davina (very much a woman after his own heart) and our lovely nieces, Sarah and Laura.
Getting our priorities right, we timed our dinner around Take That night on the X Factor. Sarah and Laura had a few stressful moments when their favourites went to the sing off but survived and we were delighted that our favourite, Diana got through again. We don't see enough of these girls and may have to recall them incredibly soon for a Mamma Mia night. Can't wait to get my copy tomorrow and make Peter watch it.
As I type I have one of Jamie's chickens in the oven, with a lemon in its cavity. Although unlike someone who shall remain nameless, my lemon went in the right end of the chicken! I'll let you know how that one goes...

Looks fab Lol. We can`t all be as gifted as you knowing our chicken`s neck from it`s backside. I have to walk it around the kitchen to work it out.
Post a pic when you`ve made it :)
Hehe, I may well have made the same mistake if you hadn't done it first. It was eaten too quickly for me to take a pic!
