Waste of time

Here's an update on the fiasco that is Peter's hospital treatment, or rather non treatment. The consultant said he wasn't sure that the surgery his previous consultant had been going to do would actually help Peter and asked had we tried physiotherapy? Not a good start, he clearly hadn't read his records very thoroughly as Peter had 6 months physio at that hospital!
He then said that these things sometimes heal themselves at which point we reminded him that it had been unbearable for two and a half years.
So his final offering was that Peter should be referred to a colleague of his who actually does this type of surgery. It may be that an artificial disk would help.
We asked would that mean another 6 month wait and he smiled and said, "Hopefully not quite that long."
In the meantime, they may do an epidural, which can sometimes relieve pain for a while.
I outlined to him all the effects the pain was having on Peter and that I really don't think it is fair that he should have to suffer this for so long just because he'd been forgotten under a pile of paperwork. He just smiled and said, "Yes, yes."
So the gloves are off. I have left a message for the helpful man at Hope and I've officially complained to the patient liaison people at our local hospital. They are allegedly pushing for a quick appointment with the man Peter obviously should have seen today.
My brother has written a book called Incompetence, it sums up this country beautifully!
