My hero

My hero has mowed the lawn. At last the garden looks lovely again. We have a wonderful petrol lawnmower which has been out of action since last summer when the outbuilding was built with its what-turned-out-to-be-totally-non-waterproof-roof. The rains came down and killed the lawnmower. Now a magic lawnmower man has fixed it, albeit at enormous cost, and Peter put it to good use this evening.

Now I can actually see all the plants Tom has planted. Sadly, the heroics do not stretch to rebuilding the wind demolished pergola which once stood here :(

But lots of interesting things are blooming. I love this, haven't a scooby doo what it is though.

I have to say, I think Peter is amazing for mowing the lawn. I think he's amazing for getting up and going to work every morning in the amount of pain he's in. He last had a hospital appointment in January, when his consultant turned out to be off sick. They promised to review his scans and get back to him. When we hadn't heard anything by May, I rang up to see what was happening. It turned out that what was happening was that the orthopaedic department had shut down and his consultant had retired. "Did nobody tell you?"
No they did not!
Just at this time, Ione organized starting up a prayer circle, whereby we email a group of friends with prayer requests and text one another with urgent ones. It has been a real blessing to us and we have really seen answered prayer.
After almost 6 months of nothing, I rang at the new hospital (in the wonderful city of Salford) and spoke to the liaison person there. He was really sympathetic and promised to review Peter's scans at a meeting they were having that Wednesday. I nearly fell off my chair when he actually rang me the following week to say that Peter had an appointment on 29th June. When the letter came through, they have also referred him to a pain clinic (long overdue).
So tomorrow, 2 and a half years after the accident, we go to see a new consultant, praying that he will be able to help.

Really hope he can, and your garden looks lovely and the flower looks like a lupin, but i might be wrong.
