An outdoor adventure

This weekend we went to visit our friends Dave and Davina, who live in Surrey. Since Peter's company have stopped paying for private petrol and he was already working down south, we decided that Tom, Anni and I would go as far as Watford on the train, which was quite an adventure in itself. The journey passed really quickly and I enjoyed being able to read whilst travelling, which I can never do in the car without feeling sick. It also meant that we arrived much earlier than usual. On Saturday, we had lunch in a wonderful café in an antiques place called The Packhouse where the children enjoyed eating outside and sitting on this thatched swing seat.
From there we went on to Alice Holt Woodland Park, where we had last been when Annabel and Sarah-Beth were little enough to go in one of those canvas carriages that you attach to the back of bikes. Peter, Tom, Anni and I hired some boneshaker bikes and we all went off on the family cycle trail, which was great fun.
Peter really shouldn't have done this and is suffering for it now, but we had such fun at the time.
Had I known what we were doing when I packed my case, I may not have blended in so well with the forest! It sure made me realised how unfit I am, my own bike is going to be used much more this week, then next time I may not be so saddle sore the next day. I was definitely in the mood for an outdoor adventure and an outdoor adventure was what I got.
Once we had done the family trail, we did the adventure trail, which has lots of wooden structures along the way, just asking to be climbed on.

A hoot was had by all! We rounded the day off with an indoor adventure in A & E when Sarah-Beth landed badly on her ankle on their trampoline at home. Thankfully it turned out to be very badly sprained and not broken. We've had such a lovely time but as always, the weekend just went far too quickly.
