Blooming marvellous

Last year, when my head of department, Margaret, retired, she bought each member of the department a rose to plant in our gardens. Just yesterday Jane, who also received a rose, asked me how my rose was doing and I have to confess that I've been so busy lately that I hadn't checked. That prompted me to do so and there I found "Margaret" in beautiful bloom and pink to boot! I'm now looking forward to Peter arriving home, having taken a diversion to our old friend Dawsy's nursery to buy some colourful plants for the garden.
It has been so lovely today. I had quite a light day at work, including lunch with Helen, a friend who took early retirement last year and whom I miss very much. Added to the delight of eating lunch outside at one of my favourite eateries with Helen and Jane (fleetingly I felt like Ione!) I discovered that my 10% loyalty card was worth 20%. Later, when I got home from work, Tom and Anni and I went to the farm shop for ice cream and whom should we bump into but my lovely sister-in-law Ally and her edible boys.
All in all, a day of treats!
Annabel is making good use of the trampoline. Today she found it an excellent spot for reading her latest Francine Rivers book. I wandered upstairs to see what Tom was doing and he was fast asleep on his bed. Tiring work being a teenager...

I really love this photograph! I come on here sometimes just to look at it. I so love roses but i can`t grow them. they always end up with black spotted leaves or blackfly. How are you anyway?

My rose only grows by complete accident! I am hopeless with plants and flowers. I'm grand, have had a lovely weekend.
