That London

Being the kind parents that we are, we were up at the crack of dawn yesterday, to take 2 carloads of Tom and Anni's friends to the Underage Festival in London, for which Peter gets them complimentary tickets every year. Because there were 4 girls and 3 boys, Tom and his mates had the "pleasure" of travelling in my car and listening to the eclectic mix on my ipod. Having dropped off our charges, we hopped on to the tube and explored some of that London. Trafalgar Square was buzzing with a steel band event. The music was great and it made my smile watching all the people who just couldn't help dancing.
We also got to appreciate some art; the work on the platform in Trafalgar Square was an amazing giant ship in a bottle. We also had a peek at the contemporary section of the National Portrait Gallery. The most remarkable exhibits were this, sculpted in the artist's own blood!!!! and a painting of a girl listening to her ipod, which was so lifelike, it was hard to believe it wasn't a photograph.
After that, it was time for a mooch round the shops. Pretty amazing how quickly 8 spare hours can go by in good company...
