One of the best things about my job is the collection of random little moments when the kids say things that make me smile. You can be in full flow and they just interrupt you with a question, reflecting something that is on their mind, such as:
"Miss, did you always want to be a French teacher?" (To which I always tell them yes, and how I used to line my dolls and teddies up in the garage with my toy blackboard and teach them.)
Or "You know how we have French lessons? Well, do French people have English lessons?" (Many struggle to get their head round this one, that their English lessons are like our French lessons and their French lessons are like English for us.) "So do they call it French or English?"
Today, a trainee was preparing to give a presentation on my laptop and this photo, which I have as my wallpaper flashed up for a while.
"Miss, where was that taken?"
At a wedding.
"Was that your wedding?"
No, I didn't get married in brown. Besides, I got married 20 years ago.
"You've been married twenty years!!!???"
Yes, almost.
"Don't you ever get sick of him?"
No.
I could see her continuing to mull that one over in her mind.
Love it.
