How to abba laugh

I have just had one of the most surreal experiences of my life. Every so often some of Anni's schoolfriends' mums have a get-together. This week, since the girls were in Paris on a school trip for a couple of days, one of the mums, Jane, suggested that we should go to an Abba night at the town hall, featuring a tribute band. Well, as you can imagine, that appealed to me no end. Peter told me that I must go and that he didn't mind having an afternoon visit and not an evening one. So off we went. In the end just three of us.
The band were amazing and we really enjoyed singing our hearts out, but we did bring the average age of the audience down by about 30 years! And we did wonder what everybody else was doing there. As they all sat stiff as boards (rather reminiscent of the time when the WHBC ladies were the only ones bopping at the Mamma Mia singalong screening), Jane said she now knew what it felt like to be an extra in Cocoon.

In the second half we were invited up to the front to dance, now that was more like it. One of the highlights was Jane (on the right) winning TWO separate prizes in the raffle. One of the very low points was the incredibly dreadful comedian we had to endure for the first hour or so.
But the band sang all the golden oldies. And best of all, Cath and I got to be photographed with "Frida"... (totally loving the outfit)..
...and a very tangerine "Benny". What an absolute hoot!
