So Anni is back from España and has had a great time. It was a school exchange trip to Marbella. She stayed with a lovely family, who were incredibly kind to her. Here she is with them, having dinner at a sea front restaurant. She was particularly fond of the chocolate mousse. (Looks yummy!)
Just one look at this picture by the clear blue sea made me want to hop on a plane and go out there myself. Could really use some sunshine and relaxation right now. One of their many outings was a day trip to Gibraltar, where my Dad was based in his Navy days. Mum and Rob lived out there too, round about 1956. Before she left, Anni and I looked through Mum's photo album and found lots of pictures of Mum and Dad sitting on benches by giant pineapple trees and so I asked Anni to get a similar picture of herself:
One of the highlights of Gibraltar was the monkeys. They look soooooooooo adorable. One of Anni's friends ended up wearing one as a hat. Not quite Davy Crockett! Don't think I would have been so brave. Now she's home, I think she's feeling the British chill. The poor Spanish girl is going to think she's come to the North Pole when she comes here.
