Dashing around, discovering lost cds and decorating

This week has been one of the most hectic yet. We seem to have been dashing from one thing to another. I had a parents' evening the same night as small group and had to get Anni packed for her exchange trip to Spain on Thursday, whilst Peter was away for two nights. Amidst all of this, the painter and decorator we had booked rang to ask if he could start on Thursday, with less than 48 hours notice. We hadn't decorated the lounge or study since we moved in nearly 8 hours ago and it was badly in need of being done, preferably before Peter went into hospital.
The kitchen, which I had painted an overly dark jade about 6 years ago, is now a nice fresh willow green. Tom's first impression was that it looks like a cross between baby blue, cucumber and vomit but says it has now grown on him. I love the clean, fresh feel it has. I washed my curtains and windows and it all smells like a beautiful spring morning. It also has the added bonus of having uncovered my long lost country legends cd, which was behind the fridge. Peter says it was behind the fridge for a very good reason. Ha! I am listening to Kenny and Dolly singing Islands in the Stream on my ipod as I type.
The dining room is red again, but a better shade.

The downside of this was that Tom had the mammoth task of unloading all of this from the bookcases. Mine was the unenviable task of putting it all back again, although the Monica in me secretly enjoyed it.
Peter wanted the lounge to be yellow again. We had a most amicable debate about this and in the end he said I could choose as long as it wasn't cream. So I went for stone, which I am afraid Anni is going to hate.
The study has gone from terracotta and yellow to some nice, relaxing greens. I'm now completely exhausted from all the cleaning and reorganising but it was worth it. I've done some Kim and Aggie, cleaning my kitchen tiles with bocarbonate of soda and lemon juice and decluttering. Peter will now have a pleasant environment in which to recuperate.
Meanwhile Anni seems to be having a great time in Spain. She rang at 11.40pm last night and she's an hour ahead of us!!! She said they don't go to bed until nearly 2am!! Trying not to worry. She says it's 18 degrees out there and she has a bit of a tan. The poor Spanish girl is going to think she has come to the North Pole when she gets here.
Still enjoying the rediscovered tunes. Ah! What's not to like about Coward of the County?

I LOVE that Dolly one, Pete doesn`t know a great song when he hears it (just think he won`t be able to switch it off for a while so you could leave it on repeat for hours) and the house looks fab, love the red (especially for people who moved in 8 hours ago :P)
