You know when you see I trailer at the cinema and think I have to see that? It rarely happens that Peter and I both turn to eachother and say just that, but Defiance was such a film. It combines lots of action for Peter with lots of Daniel Craig for me, with a fascinating true story to boot. I've been looking forward to the cinema release for ages. Defiance does not disappoint. I was gripped from the opening sequence to the very end. Like Oskar Schindler, Tuvia Bielski is by no means the perfect hero and doesn't set out to be such, but he becomes one by doing something amazing just because he can. At one point Peter asked me who was the actress who plays his love interest. She was kissing Daniel Craig at the time; I told him her name was Lucky.
And whilst on the subject of heroes, my real life hero Peter saw his consultant on Friday. He remembered him, which was a good start. His original consultant never had more than five minutes for him and was always abrupt, verging on rude. But this man actually treats him as a person of interest. Furthermore, every member of staff Peter has come into contact with has nothing but good to say about him and gives him rave reviews. So I suppose we could say he has been worth the wait.
He is going to operate as soon as possible, but it will probably be the end of February now as they are struggling for beds. They did all the pre-ops (blood tests, ecg etc.) so now we are just waiting for a date. Meanwhile, he has asked Peter to attend one of his teaching seminars next week, as a case study. Peter would be the example of someone who is suffering a high level of pain and needing drastic surgery but who is still working and functioning. I think that says an awful lot about my real life hero.

Actually Lo, do you think she should be called Dirty, as she would be after kissing the face in that pic :)
