Our final stop was Dublin. We were booked into the Trinity Capital Hotel, which was lovely and funky and the staff were amazing.
On arrival I explained that we had travelled all round Ireland and had only ever had showers and would just love a room with a bath, if that were at all possible. Not only did we get a bath, but also directions to the nearest Lush to make the most of it.
We had very little energy left at this stage. It was all we could do to wander wearily around the town, seeking out a Wagamama's. The next day we had breakfast in Starbucks and were amused to pass this sight...
Then we did the open top bus tour, which was pretty disappointing actually. Maybe we were just travel weary.
To Anni's delight we discovered a Bubblicity tea shop, where we had an infusion of fruit tea with mango bubbles.
The town was very busy, but lovely.
We sailed for home on Thursday, into Holyhead, which meant we had driven through England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales in the past 12 days. The journey home wasn't fun. The ferry was shabby and had ripped seats and the only ones available were next to a children's play area. Worse still, they had an entertainer, whooping them up to make loud noises en masse. But we have had a lovely adventure and it was lovely to get home to our boys. I wonder if we will get to do another road trip...and where the road will take us?
