New Year & Nasty Knitwear

Happy new decade to you all. I clearly remember listening to Abba singing Happy New Year, at the turn of the 80's thinking as I heard one of the lines, which is something about "what lies waiting down the line in the end of '89, how so very far away 1989 seemed. Now we've seen what lay waiting down the line in the end of 2009.
So last night we had a decade to say farewell to and to see out the noughties, we held a nasty knitwear party and were very impressed with the attire our guests managed to unearth. Stephen sported a handknitted number, made for him by Sarah when he was 18. Andy and Jen, meanwhile, were kitted out at Barnardos.
Debbie and Dave raided one of their mum's wardrobes.
As for us, it was Barnardos to the rescue again. I was quite alarmed on two counts: firstly by the number of people who said they thought my hideous juxtaposition of leopard print, sequins, peach and roman numerals was actually quite nice!?!? and secondly by how attractive I found Peter in his Val Doonican style Pringle number. One friend has suggested perhaps a rocking chair for his birthday...
We did the usual mix with a bit of karaoke thrown in and Jools Holland to coount us into the new decade. This photo was taken at the beginning of the countdown.

Personally as I enter this new year I have been very challenged by this thought from a book Anni was given this Christmas; You are either becoming more like Christ every day or you're becoming less like Him. There is no neutral position in the Lord. A good challenge for a fresh new decade!
