The Jollity of January

Is it me, or is this month whizzing by without the brakes? I have been so busy I haven't blogged for two whole weeks! I have worked and taxied, cleaned and cooked most of this evening and still have 3 sets of books to mark. (They will have to wait until tomorrow, I have no energy left.) There has been some relief though. Last Friday evening we went out to celebrate Dan's 30th (Dan is my sil Judith's other half) with some quite fantabulous curry. I had curried scallops and bananas as a starter and it was quite delicious. This was the second weird food I'd sampled in January. The week before, Peter and I had been out for dinner and I had as a starter haggis on a bed of pan fried fruit cake. Basically haggis on Christmas cake without the marzipan or icing. I have to say it was quite delicious.
In additon to that, we've been gutting and decorating Anni's room, which was last done when she was seven. She's gone from shocking pink and deep lilac to cream, dark brown and bronze. This involved Peter sanding floorboards and hanging fabric on one wall. It has also involved Julie and me attempting to build IKEA wardrobes. This weekend it will all be finished at long last and I will be able to re-monica my house :)
