My Mum is celebrating her 76th birthday today. We bought her a brightly coloured handbag. She came round for a birthday tea with Tom, Anni and me; pizza and chocolate cake with golden candles. Then we girls watched a dvd that arrived today from Amazon, a film of another of my fave Anita Shreve books Resistance. I think Mum enjoyed her birthday evening. I have to say I'm enjoying January so far. We've had schools closed and snow days, good news about long awaited babies, visits with old friends we haven't seen in years, the news that my uncle's cancer scan was clear and we have a new nephew joining the family in the next couple of weeks.
