I didn't get any sleep until about 3am! When I went to bed and turned off the light, I could hear a sound like papers rustling in the wind. It wasn't windy. I turned on the lamp to find a creature resembling the thing pictured above, fluttering around my bedside cabinet. Now spiders don't bother me in the slightest but things with wings really seriously freak me out. Typical that Peter was away and Tom was fast asleep (he would probably have wanted to keep it as a pet anyway.) So what to do? I thought I'd waved it in the direction of the window and it lulled me into enough of a sense of false security that I turned off the lamp. Within seconds the fluttering began again, this time, behind the headboard. I was absolutely terrified. Then I resorted to the most stupid thing imaginable; I sprayed it with the nearest aerosol, which just so happened to be hairspray. That didn't work too well so I tried deodorant. (The room was quite smelly by this stage). Eventually I got the hoover attachment and hoovered it up.)
However, by this stage I couldn't breathe in my room. (Bet my Aunty Eve knew someone who died from spraying hairspray!) So I left the window and door open and came downstairs for a while while the room aired.
