Time out

On Friday evening I made a mad dash home and then to the train station (thanks to the very lovely Josh Mackenzie for giving me a lift) to go and meet Peter in London for a chillaxing weekend away. We stayed at the Hilton on Park Lane, which was very nice and all thanks to Tesco vouchers :) I enjoyed my journey down. I have no doubt that I was the only person on the train listening to Dan Fogelberg and Boney M on an ipod! (I refuse to be ashamed of my music taste, preferring to call it "quirky".) I also started to read The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, which I finished while Peter was catching up with his sleep in the mornings.

On Saturday we walked a million miles, pottered around the shops and went to eat in Wagamamas. I loved walking along the Thames and seeing all the things people do to entertain the crowds, such as this "headless" man.
Then we went on the London Eye, which I'd been on before, but not by night.

We loved looking at the city all illuminated from the Eye. It was quite breathtaking!

Then we walked up to Trafalgar Square, trying to head for Covent Garden, but somehow ending up back at the London Eye, with very achey legs! (Geography never was my strong point, but it usually is Peter's!)

Today we went over to Camden, where Peter had parked his car for the weekend at the company flat, and explored the markets, which were really interesting and different. On the way back, we would have driven past my brother's house and so decided to pop in. They were just about to serve Sunday lunch and invited us to stay. I didn't need much persuading! So we ended up having a delicious roast dinner and got to spend some time with them. Here I am with my lovely Lily!

Finally, we went home via Ann and Jon's, who along with our friends Phil and Liz, had looked after Tom and Anni for the weekend. All I need now is a weekend to recover from my lovely weekend.....

Looks like fun!
What did you think of the pjs book?

I loved it but it made me really sad. I had such a vivid image in my head at the end because I'd actually stood in the gas chambers in "Out-with". I thought it was brilliantly written. Need to see the film now.

The film is really good and the gas chambers scene is truly horrifying, and amazingly done. I think it`s one that I will buy.
