It has to be said, I love Autumn. I keep exclaiming delight at the hues of red and gold at which my children tell me that I'm getting old. When I got home from work today, having spent the day running round like a headless chicken, I decided I just had to be out there, experiencing the autumnal autumness. So I told the children to get changed and that we were going out to experience autumn. Annabel thought I had gone mad, Tom laughed at me and Chloe thought I was "up to something." Our first stop was the pumpkin pile at the farm shop.
I hate Halloween and everything that it stands for. I also dislike the colour orange, but strangely enough I do love pumpkins.
In the summer, you struggle to find a parking space at the farm, but today I was able to take my pick. It is always heaving with people, especially children, but on this occasion it was like a deserted town in an old western, not a soul in sight! Bliss!
The three of them were able to play on the play area completely alone. What fun! Then we headed for home and I pulled in at the pool.
"What are you doing now, Mum?" they ask as if I'm crazy.
"What are you doing now, Mum?" they ask as if I'm crazy.
"This is great!" says Chloe.
"Don't encourage her," chides my daughter.
But she's actually having a ball.
They didn't even complain about all the photographs.
And I came home feeling sooooooooooooo much better for having been out in the beautiful outdoors. Note to self, do it more often.
