We haven't done much familial visitation these holidays but today we put that right. I went to have lunch with my sisters-in-law Helen and Gill and their children over at Helen's house. Then Tom, who had been catching up on sleep, joined Helen, Phebe, Ruby, Annie-Rose, Euan and my other sister-in-law Ally with Oliver, Max and Charlie at the farm shop, or Mac-Farm Shop as Tom likes to call it. (He declared that it sold its soul when they started to charge £2 for entry to the children's play area.) Tom's little cousins love him and look up to him, well they have to because he is 6ft 2! Ollie is excited that he is going to be going into a "big bed like Big Tom" and Annie-Rose likes to hold his hand and get piggy back rides from him.
It always thrills me to see the cousins playing together. Euan and Ollie had great fun later hosing down our garden and everyone in it.
Meanwhile, Annabel, who is on the Manchester youth camp that I used to attend as a teenager, has been surprising me no end. We have often been to theme parks but she will never go on anything more adventurous than the tamest of kiddie rides. (Neither will Peter.) She went on a day trip to Alton Towers yesterday and texted me to say that she had been on the biggest thrill rides twice and it was brilliant. Today she texted Peter to say that she had been paintballing. When she comes home I will have to ask; Who are you and what have you done with Annabel?
