I miss the days when the kids would bound in at some unearthly hour on Christmas morning! This year I had to wake everyone up at ten past 8. By 8.30 I was beginning to question our wisdom in buying Tom a drum machine. Still, it makes him happy. Anni was very happy with her sewing machine and I am looking forward to seeing what she will make with it. Peter's gift from Anni was this amazing hamper of retro sweets, for someone who was born in the 60's. He loved it.
My Mum was down in London for Christmas this year and we had my sil and bil, Marianne and Tim and our nephew Pierre for the day. We had a most lovely day, very relaxed, faring sumptuously, courtesy of Waitrose, thanks to hard-working Tom.
Tom is always happy when there is food involved. After dinner, we felt the need to walk off some of the calories and so we ventured to the lake up at the main road in our village. It has been frozen for about a month and looked particularly splendid in the glow of the late afternoon sun.
Love this shot and it makes me chuckle to see Tom towering over his dad and uncle.
Pierre had a good chuckle watching Tom pretending to fall over on the ice.
The three silly men ventured on to the frozen lake. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! And yes, I do know how dangerous that is, but take it from me, the men in our family refuse to be told.
Thankfully they lived to tell the tale. I think I have had enough snow and ice now though....
