Well I am going off this wintery weather after my 3 hour journey to school today! For the first time in ages, the ice just fell away as I scraped my windscreen this morning and it had begun to rain. Aha! I thought, it is finally warming up. Not so, I discovered as I drove down the by-pass. There had been a crash (or two) ahead of me and cars were beginning to brake. I braked too, only very little happened. Suddenly I was all over the dual carriageway, swerving to avoid other spinning cars. I thought I was going to die at first. Then I decided I was probably just going to get badly hurt. Just before I hit the car in front, I managed to veer up an embankment and stop myself with my handbrake. Jeremy Clarkson would have been impressed with me.
Then I sat trembling in my car for a while. Honestly it was like a scene from an apocalyptic movie; cars were lining the roadside as it became apparent that the rain was freezing as it hit the ground, turning the road into an ice rink. After over an hour standing on the frozen embankment, the police managed to get my car back on the road and I drove to work at an average speed of 5mph. Even the policeman fell flat on his back as he came to help. Further ahead a lorry driver was practically skating round his cab. It was horrendous.
Miraculously I escaped completely unhurt and the only damage to my car was a dislodged bumper. I'm very thankful to God for keeping me safe.

Oh Lol! How horrible. I thought it might be better for people driving. We had a nightmare getting to school too, and all ended up in tears, and that was walking. Glad you were ok. x
