End of an era

This was the morning of Tom's first day at high school in 2004 and it seems like only yesterday. He was so cute and smart and disorganised!
On Friday he officially left high school. He just has to go back in for exams. How times have changed. He knows when his exams are and manages to get himself there on time. Of course he does, you may think, but my dear Dad used to mollycoddle Tom so much, to the point that when he was about 10, I caught Dad putting Tom's socks on for him. Partly as a consequence of that, Tom has always struggled with organisation skills. Up until this past year that is. I've been quite impressed so far, with the revision he is doing. Anyway, this evening he has a night off. He's going to a pre prom dinner with some friends from his school and the girls' school. The boys don't have a prom, which seems a real pity, so we were glad he got the chance to dress up and mark the occasion somehow.
I can't believe my little boy is all grown up. Just look at him, towering over his Dad! Hope he has a great evening.
Sometimes I wish I could go back and make just that little bit more of every moment. Time flies by so quickly. (Sigh!)

Well done you! He looks like a very nice young man!

I was recently talking to friends about how weird ( and a little difficult) it is seeing the transition when your baby turns into a boy.

I can't imagine what it is like to see your boy turn into a man!

Hope he gets on ok with his exams x x
