The big 4-0

This year, a few of my very good friends hit the big 4-0 and one of them is the lovely Julia, who is 40 today (pictured here at my engagement party in January 1989.) We go back a long way, in fact she and Peter have known each ther since they were 4. (He will also turn 40 this year, at last!) Julia's father used to be Peter's Sunday School teacher. (He's a very patient man!)
In fact Glen and Julia were the very first people to visit our first home in Driffield, which was once named by Radio 1 as "the most boring place in Britain". So that was really rather brave of them. I actually don't remember it being boring. And to think, at the time I couldn't drive, had no t.v., video or computer and no mobile phone and lived 12 miles from our church (consisting of 10 people) in which we were the the only people under the age of 80 for the last 2 years of our time there. So visitors were our lifeline.
We've shared a lot together including Peter and Glen's bad taste in jumpers in the 1980's, judging by this photo.
Anyhoo~ this is the first of a few happy birthday posts this year, in honour of those friends joining me in the naughty forties. Happy birthday Julia!
