Half term has whizzed by in a blur and I can't believe it's Sunday already! Our friends Ruthie & Lily came to stay from Thursday evening until today and we have just had soooo much fun. One of my favourite things about Ruthie is that she loves taking and looking at photos as much as I do and so whenever we get together we bring all the albums we've put together since we last saw eachother and have a big photo catch up. We spent the whole of Friday morning doing this over several cups of tea. Then, after lunch we went to Trentham to mooch the shops and ride the carousel.
We decided that Tom was just about tall enough to ride, although had I noticed the misspelling of "height" sooner, I may not have been able to allow him to. Back at home, Lily and Anni made gingerbread people for dessert.
We had much more lazing around on Saturday before Ruthie and I joined Aunty P, my sils Judith & Helen and my niece Laura, at the ballet. We went to see an ultra modern interpretation of Swan Lake, which was quite an experience.
Almost as surreal as the 70 year-old vicar at my Uncle's funeral on Thursday, who had purple hair!! Talking of which, I was also surprised to discover, at that funeral, that my Dad had more brothers and sisters than I knew about. During the service, the aforementioned purple-haired vicar said that my Uncle Jimmy had been one of 18 children. It was a comedy moment as my equally surprised Uncle Brian mouthed an incredulous "Eighteen?" to his sister beside him. Afterwards I quizzed my Aunty Janet, who waved her hand and assured me, "No, he made a mistake," Ah! I thought, then she added, "There were only 17." I had always known Dad to be one of 11 but apparently there were 6 more who died in infancy. I also met an Aunt whom I'd never met before, who was really a cousin. Her mother was my Dad's older sister who died and so she was brought up by my grandparents. She was sweet and bubbly and funny and I liked her instantly. Imagine though, 17 children! Ione, it would be like you saying, this is fun, let's have another 13!

Thanks Lol. I love having an imagination, but seventeen children is not something I`m planning to use it for - nor is even one more. Eek! :)
Ps love the idea of your `bog photo catch up`. I wasn`t even going to read to the end of your post when I noticed such a misspelling, or do you spend a lot of time taking pictures of wet ground? ;)x
Eeeeeeeek! How will I ever show my face in public again? x
Seering as you`re doing the quiz on Thursday, and you have changed it, I think we can let you off :)x
PS Did you like my deliberate spelling mistake?
