We have spent many a happy weekend with our friends Dave and Davina and their children and many long hours roaming woodland parks and children's play areas. This weekend when they came up for a visit we took the brave step of going out ourselves and leaving the children in the charge of Tom. We went for an adventure by train into Manchester and were amused to be given discount couple's tickets called a "northern duo" ticket. We introduced them to the delights of Afflecks and Wagamamas.
And the children rather enjoyed their afternoon and evening, largely spent on Band Hero. Davina and I were amused when we arrived home to a fairly tidy house and an evening with no major incidents as we remembered the last time we'd gone out and left the children, when they were much younger, with Peter and Dave. We came home to a rather chaotic house with one child who had cut her hand on the scissors and another who had cut her own fringe, rather wonkily. Tom did a much better job.
