Dating, 23 years on

Peter and I have very different tastes in music these days. In fact we have different tastes in a lot of things. So recently we agreed to go on a date of my choice once a fortnight followed by one of his choice two weeks later. My choice was the Proms in the Park last week. I didn't have to wait 2 weeks for Peter's choice. The opportunity came up for us to go to Wembley this Saturday....to see Coldplay, who were being supported by Girls Aloud! Peter decided that he would like this to be his birthday present. So on Saturday, we set off around noon, leaving two disgruntled teenagers to fend for themselves on tinned spag bol and ready meals, bereft of their taxis for the day. To add insult to injury, we dared to ask them to clean and tidy their bedrooms. Well, sometimes you just have to invest some time in yourselves.
We arrived just in time for the gates opening and managed to get a spot standing right near the front. This did mean standing for a good 7 hours, but it was worth it. I actually loved Girls Aloud. I did have to endure a rapper and a rather miserable band before and after them though.
Coldplay were amazing, so much energy! When they first came on, it was pouring with rain. We were so drenched that my cardigan, which I'd hung to dry when we got home, was still soaked through this morning! Thankfully, the rain soon stopped. The gig was very civilised too. No bad language around us, very little alcohol to be seen. The stewards even passed out cups of water to the audience and people apologised if they accidentally bumped into you.
This was Chris Martin in the pouring rain.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day. It was nice to spend quality time together. And thanks to a text and phone call from our very thoughtful niece, who was also on her way back from London late last night, we managed to avoid major traffic jams and sail home for 1.30am. The only problem is, what can I come up with to follow that date?
