April is turning out to be the season for birthday cake. Tomorrow is Jacob's 12th birthday. This evening our two families decided to combine roast dinners and Spanish exchange partners and celebrate Jacob being almost 12. He was surprised as anything when Julie came in with his monster birthday cake.
Anni's exchange partner Alejandra and Naomi's Spanish exchange partner Ana tucked into some traditional English roast goodies. (It's turning out to be quite handy having Chef Peter at home during the day!)
I find it very frustrating that I don't speak Spanish. I'm used to gabbling away to exchange visitors from France and Germany and feel linguistically crippled. I'm trying to speak a little and between us we make ourselves understood but I really wish I knew more Spanish. We are finding, however, that some things transcend the language barrier; namely the trampoline and Guitar Hero. We have enjoyed seeing our kids and the Spanish kids having fun together with these.
