Germany revisited

I have just had the pleasure of spending 4 days in Germany, to attend the retirement celebrations for Christian, one of my German colleagues at the school with which we have a 31 year partnership. Christian is the very happy looking guy in the shorts! I arrived on Thursday, spent most of Friday in school, where I gave out the Nantwich award for English and attending the leaving do. It was lovely to catch up with many old friends and to meet some new people. The school now has its 3rd head teacher since my connections began,  Petra, who very kindly took us all out to a Greek restaurant at the edge of the woods. It was a real treat to be sitting outside in the evening and not even need a cardigan.
It was a fleeting visit, but always good for my German. Not so good for my waistline...
