An Au Revoir

One of the difficulties of working in the same place for 16 years is getting close to colleagues and then having to say goodbye when the move on and leave you behind. Aurelie joined us 3 years ago, when 2 other very dear colleagues retired. Recently I told her I was applying for a new job. She said she didn't like the thought of working here without me and so she applied for an exciting new job in Switzerland. I didn't get an interview; she got her job. C'est la vie! So on Thursday evening I held a little "Au Revoir" bbq for her and all the people who lunch together at work along with some of their other halves.
We had a good giggle over a game of darts in the pouring rain and enjoyed listening to Aurelie's entertaining and honest leaving speech. She sure is taking on a lot of change at once this summer; getting married, changing jobs, moving home and moving country. We will miss her Frenchness, her joie de vivre and her ability to always make us laugh. Au revoir Aurelie.
