I have become a lazy blogger! Or perhaps I'm just too busy? Anyway, just had to report on the fab weekend we just had. When I was a girl guide, we used to sing a song that went like this: "Make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold." I have to say, I love my olden golden friends, particularly our friends Dave and Davina. We've just been down to stay with them for a very different type of weekend. First of all, we were Tom-less. Tom is now working hard every Saturday at Ione's favourite supermarket and, bless him for having such a good work ethic, wants to be known for his commitment, which meant that taking a Saturday off was out of the question. It was a big step to leave him home alone for the first time, although I knew he'd be fine. I'm not sure how much he liked it though, he kept asking us when we were coming home.
So, without Tom, it worked out that his biggest fan, 7 year-old Nathan, was free to go to a party that lasted most of the day and from there on we decided to split the day into boy stuff and girl stuff. Thus it was that Peter and Dave went on a tour of a local brewery, followed by the FA cup final, followed by a local football match. Anni and the girls went to a water slides place and Davina and I indulged in a blissful afternoon browsing round my fave shopping place, where I fell in love with this teaset.
And bought this Cath Kidston and Laura Ashley bunting I'd been looking for for so long to adorn the pergola whenever we have a bit of a do. We browsed and shopped and caught up and had coffee and cake and it was just perfect. We finished our evening off with a trip to the cinema with the girls to see The Back Up Plan, which was very amusing.
Girls doing girl stuff and boys doing boys stuff is definitely the way forward :)
