A little bit of folk

On Friday evening Julie and I went to the superlative city of Salford to hear Kate Rusby at the Lowry. I just lurve the Lowry because it's completely purple. We sat on our purple seats , surrounded by purple walls and heard a great concert.
As well as being a fabulous singer, Kate Rusby is a great entertainer. In between songs, she told little stories and served anecdotes in her wonderful Barnsley accent so that it was like a music and comedy fest all in one. I would absolutely definitely go and hear her again. Now I've seen a live performance I have a greater appreciation of the instrumentals too.
Why is though, that whenever Julie and I go to a concert, the audience always seems to be comprised of "people of a certain age"? Are we really older than we think we are?
On a particularly amusing note, Kate's latest album is called "Awkward Annie" (my Anni is not impressed ~ just let her wait til I learn the words!) Better still, you can buy Awkward Annie mugs.... guess what will be in Anni's Christmas stocking?
