Hurrah for our new oven! Can't stop baking. (Jon watch out, you might even get a food parcel!) We did some baking this afternoon. I tried Sonia's muffin recipe. It's been so long since I baked that I'm out of touch. I misread teaspoon as tablespoon and overdid the baking powder ~ hence creating monster mutant muffins. Ah well, they sure are delicious. Anni made the most amazing gingerbread men. Tom pronounced them to be better than the local bakers' "in a different league" were his words. Here she is rolling out the gingerbread with the family glass rolling pin. This belonged to her great

grandmother and we worked out today that it must be nearly 100 years old and have baked through two world wars. Apparently my Grandma used to threaten Uncle Ike with it when he rolled home drunk. Can't imagine Uncle Ike drunk! She used to wave it in the air and say, "I'm ready for him!"
Still no sign of Barthez. My cat loving neighbour across the road is going to try and entice him with ham on the fence and has a blanket ready to catch him.....miss him loads.
