Proms in the park

Here we are at the last night of the proms ~ the good old Manchester version, in Heaton Park.
What an experience! We thought we were organised, taking lots of folding chairs and rugs. But some people had beautifully laid tables full of sumptuous fayre, one even had a golden tablecloth set with a candleabra beneath a gazebo, some had tents with guy ropes, another had a clear plastic groundsheet beneath their table.
The guy in the foreground in this photo just plonked himself in the middle of our party and stayed there all night.
I was amazed how much the children enjoyed it all ~ here they are bopping away to "New York, New York" sung by the brilliant Cole Page.

Many thanks to Glen for getting us the tickets. (He was playing in the ochestra) Here he is in full flow at the conductor's elbow:

We also got to see Katie Melua, who was fabulous!
A definite "must do again" experience! Posted by Picasa

A great night. Big thanks to Glen from us for the tickets too! Cole Page was a hit with the kids who want to go and see him at the Opera House in October. Anyone interested?
