All change

When I was very ill, back in 1995, and had to disappear from work very suddenly for over 6 months, it just so happened that another lady was ready to return to work after a break to have a family. That lady was Jane, who ended up staying on at school and has been my closest friend at work. She organises me, reminds me when important things are happening, makes spreadsheets, analyzes data, cheers me up, comes out to lunch at the canal cafe with me most Fridays and is generally one of my favourite people. On Tuesday, we made our last escape to the cafe together. On Wednesday she retired and I cried buckets. She bought me a purple plate and a purple cutlery set to remember her by. Saaad face :( I had to ring Peter when school ended, because just hearing his voice makes me feel better.
In other news of major change, Tom broke his glasses, quite spectacularly in two. He also had a much needed radical haircut. Miraculously, we found his spare glasses, which he has hardly ever worn. Consequently he has transmogrified into Peter 25 years ago.
Keeping on the theme of radical change, I decided to embrace it and I have changed my hair colour, toning down the battle against the grey.
