I love my Momma Bear. She only really gets out whenever I take her out, so yesterday we had a really long day out and made use of my newly acquired annual pass for Trentham Gardens (thank you Tesco!) In return for giving feedback on the Abba gig I went to, they sent me a free day pass and so we had a free day out. We met up with my sil Helen and the gang and just had a gorgeous morning chilling on deckchairs by the lake. In the afternoon Mum and I took a boat ride around the lake. It was so hot and sunny that I came home with tan lines. I will definitely be back there with my kindle and a picnic.
To ring the changes, we made the return journey on the train. Maybe not the best idea as it was a 10 minute walk from where the boat docked but we made it. I kept her out for over 7 hours so I think she may have had a good sleep last night!
I have been trying to explain to my Mum how my Dad's sister in Canada gets to see my photos via facebook. She doesn't really get it and as I grapple with getting used to my new android phone, I begin to appreciate that there may come a day when I am equally baffled by new technology too. Although, not if my mother-in-law is anything to go by. She is a whizz with her iphone, ipad and kindle and face time.
Either way, I love this verse, which Rick Warren flagged up on twitter the other day:
"Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God," Leviticus 19 v 32.
