Sightseeing with our German friends

We are currently on the 31st annual exchange with our German partner school and on Saturday we took the two teachers, Mareike (who is staying with us) and Sanela to London for the day.  Mareike had been as a teenager but Sanela had never been before. We were up at the crack of dawn to make the most of the day.
Our aim was to show them real London, not just the famous attractions, so we started off in Camden market. The group grew and grew as we discovered that our newest bil Dan was down on business there and so we had arranged to meet up with Judith for the day. We also took the opportunity to catch up with Paul, Peter's best friend from teenage years, who has been abroad doing missionary work for years and whom we hadn't seen for 12 years. He and his lovely wife Jane are now living in London for a while. It was a real buzz to watch Peter and Paul talking non stop and catching up.
It is great when you can just pick up where you left off after years apart from good friends.
We all quite enjoyed being tourists for the day and had lots of fun.
Anni was so little the last time we saw Paul and Jane that she didn't remember them at all and she really enjoyed chatting with Jane, who is amazingly creative and so a kindred spirit.
Here is the whole gang in front of Buckingham Palace, where we learned that when Anni was little, Peter had told her that the Queen waved at him from a window...and Anni had believed him.
Our final tourist stop was Trafalgar Square, where we enjoyed the pretty lighting on the fountains at twilight. We got home around 11pm and crawled into bed very very tired tourists.
