A Wedding in December

The start of the Christmas holidays was marked by a trip to Yorkshire for the wedding of Josh & Beth Mackenzie yesterday. With Friday's hefty snowfall, I had wondered if we were going to be snowed out of the event, and certainly expected to be driving into a winter wonderland out there. To our surprise there was not a drop of snow to be seen. It was a tad nippy and the bride's gorgeous white furry jacket was a good choice.
This is the Mackenzie family, our friends and neighbours. Josh was about 13 when we first moved here and got to know them and we have watched him grow up and be a real blessing to our children and plenty of others in his work among the youth group. I was very impressed with all the purple going on in this family gathering, right down to the very co-ordinated sister of the groom Abi and her boyfriend Alex.
The boys scrubbed up well. I tried so hard to persuade Tom to shave off the silly moustache, but to no avail. I think his Aunty Jue needs to have a firm word with him about getting rid of it in time for her nuptials on the 29th.
It was lovely to see Peter in a suit ( a very rare occurrence these days) but it wasn't long before we had to don the tweed overcoat and the furry jacket to keep out the cold.
I love this shot of Anni and Tom in the snow, arriving at the reception. (Yes, there was a dusting of snow as we travelled a little further north)
We were glad of the warmth of the reception room and the mulled wine there was to greet us.
The room was very pretty with lots of fairy lights and we had a lovely time at the reception in the company of Julie, Jenny and Dave and Hannah and Gary.
I thought Maggie looked just beautiful in her purple outfit, as of course did Beth in her second wedding dress of the day, both of which she designed and created herself. For this photograph, Ross donned the Mackenzie tartan.
And we still have another wedding to look forward to.....
