The long road home

There really is no place like home and after 2 weeks on the road, I was more than ready to go there.  We left Mull (final pic of Tobermory above) straight after breakfast, aiming for the 9.10am ferry from Fishnish to Lochaline and we made it. Quite a feat actually, down what was mainly one of those irritating single track roads! Annabel had one final wish for the trip and that was to visit Wigtown....the photograph explains why.
My little bookworm was in her element browsing the second hand bookshops here. She bought some Shakespeare plays. We loved this shop.
It was the prettiest shop in town and well worth a visit. Even if it did add two hours to our journey time!
We loved the twisting books outside the shop. And talk about coincidence, there in the middle of nowehere I bumped into two of my pupils. Glad to know they love books too.
So from here, we headed home. Anni has improved her map reading skills on this trip, which came in handy because there were times when my trusty sat-nav had a moment. She had one or two leaving Wigtown, in must have been the excitement of all those books! This was one of those occasions when Anni triumphed as her father's daughter and overruled the sat-nav and chose a better way home.
12 hours and 20 minutes after leaving Tobermory, one long drive and two short ferry crossings later, with two short refreshment breaks and a 45 minute stop in Wigtown...we were home sweet home and reunited with our kitty. On Friday we will be reunited with Peter and Tom!!!
I am on my fourth load of washing now and am just about to reintroduce my carpets to their long lost friend the vacuum cleaner. Neither this nor the mop, duster, swiffer or cooker appear to have been used in my absence! Never mind, the lawns are pristine.
