On Wednesday evening, Peter was going down to London, so we decided to go with him and stay at my brother and sil's overnight. While he went off to work on Wednesday, we spent the day as tourists with my sil, Kath. First of all, Anni wanted to visit all things Greek in the British museum, as research for her Textiles project. I had never been before and was amazed by the size of the museum and just how much there is to see there. She certainly found plenty of inspiration.
After a lovely lunch in a courtyard cafe off the beaten track, basking in the Spring sunshine, we set off to do a tour of Highgate Cemetery, where this book is set. (When told of my fondness for visiting places from books I have read, one of Peter's colleagues asked why he didn't get me to read a book about the Bahamas!) Tom was pleased to come along and see the grave of Karl Marx. So here he is, standing a little to the left of Karl Marx. You certainly couldn't miss this grave! The tour was interesting, with so many stories along the way.
Afterwards, we carried on enjoying the sunshine, taking tea in Rob and Kath's summerhouse, which is very beautiful and a lovely place to sit and chat. We also got to catch up with our nephew Joe, whom I hadn't seen since his travels last year. It was just a pity Peter wasn't working down there for two days.
