This week

Only one week til the summer hols begin! Yay!

This week I accompanied our German exchange children and their partners to Alton Towers. What fun! Until a cracker truck overturned and shed its load on the A50, making our journey to Alton Towers take FOUR HOURS! Imagine 4 hours on a hot double decker bus with 56 kids asking "Are we nearly there yet?" in two languages. Then the Germans started singing folk songs to pass the time..aaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

I only got to go on 3 rides:

1) Submission ~ which I really couldn't enjoy because I was too busy worrying about the YTS girl operating it with her multicoloured hair, multiple piercings and sullen walk. Could she really be trusted to secure the thing properly that was holding me in whilst I was upside down?

2) Charlie & The Chocolate Factory ~ on a par with the candle factory, need I say more?

3) The Rapids, which was okay.

On Monday we bought some of Anni's new uniform ready for high school. She spent Monday evening tying her tie. I'm sure the novelty will wear off ~ eventually. She tried on a blazer and the shoulders made her look like someone out of Dynasty but thankfully, another brand was fine.

I can't believe my baby is going to high school! I'm getting old. I met an ex pupil yesterday who has a very successful job and her own house. All grown up! Mind you, one of my teaching colleagues is an ex pupil too, so I must be officially old.

Today Tom and Anni spent the afternoon in the paddling pool in Grandma and Grandad's garden, reunited with their long distance cousins who moved up to Findochty (9 hours drive away) and are now short distance cousins again. It was like having 4 Anni's all squealing at once, but they were happy to be together.

I've suddenly developed a massive blue lump on my foot, just this evening and it really hurts. I rang NHS direct and they said a nurse will ring me back in 3 hours. I could be dead in 3 hours! If I am, blame the NHS.
