On Saturday afternoon, when the clouds looked very threatening, we launched our second annual WHBC Family Fun Day on the church field. Thankfully, the rain changed its mind and retreated and we were able to have a fabulous afternoon with our friends and neighbours.
There was a very popular (and very competitive) tug of war, as well as a wellie throwing competition.
We also had some stilt races, although some of us didn't get very far before falling off...
...and a hog roast!
The girls manned a coconut shy and I amazed myself by actually knocking one off.
Liz manned the "Whack-a-rat" which makes an appearance in various guises at Holiday Bible Club.
As well as being a great opportunity to reach out to the community, it was a good chance to catch up with old friends and chat to some new ones. Tom and John caught up. It is hard to believe that these two little boys are now grown men, one of whom is getting married next summer!
All in all, it was a fantastic day.
