I am loving all the Britishness that the Diamond Jubilee has inspired; union jacks everywhere and on everything and that real sense of community. So it was an absolute delight yesterday, to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee together as a family at Ann & Jon's, with almost everybody dressed in red, white and blue.
Ann had really gone to town on the British theme of the party.
Erin was, as she described herself, "a beautiful British butterfly" and Dee had another chance to wear the special hat she wore to celebrate getting British citizenship.
Even Her Maj herself made a guest appearance.
Might have to borrow Judith's wellies if I ever wear this dress in the rain, or when the killer heels start to hurt. (Nobody could get used to me being this tall.)
Ann and Jon were splendid hosts. We had royal themed cupcakes and very British triangular sandwiches for lunch, followed by a bbq dinner. Then we finished the day off perfectly by watching Gary Barlow's concert together.Even would-be republican Tom embraced the day, if not in a Morrissey-esque fashion.
We also got to celebrate his 19th birthday (which was on Sunday), along with my sil Helen's 47th and niece Erin's 5th with a giant British cupcake.
Happy Diamond Jubilee everyone!
